About Panola County, TX
Panola County, TX is located at the east end of the Texas Panhandle near Louisiana border. As of 2019 it had a population of 23,417 and its county seat is Carthage. Other towns within Panola include Beckville, Long Branch, Gary and Tatum with an overall population spread across rural farmland & small communities. This county was created from Harrison County back in 1846 and was named after a Creek Indian chief who signed the first peace treaty between Texas and Cherokees in 1836.
