Do your research and visit here before moving... -
2/25/2007I grew up in Ogden, used to be a pretty good place to live. But that has totally changed! Gangs are taking over the city, shootings and robberies are almost an every day occurance anymore. Wonder why homes are cheap here... let's see... gangs, no average paying jobs unless you commute to Salt Lake - at least an hour drive, more during the "rush hours". It's taken me 4 hours to get home on several occasions. The town is dying, just drive downtown and notice the number of business' that have closed their doors and left town, heck, even the old mall has pulled out and left, the railroad is gone, the defense depot is gone, not sure who will be next, but they're all leaving!!! Don't move here without checking it out first, we're leaving this summer as crime has gotten too bad. Don't leave ANYTHING outside, it will be gone before morning! I hate to see what has happened to this city.

1/14/2007Hippies. Deadbeats. Beatnicks. Granolas. Homeless People. Crooked governments. Rain, moss, fungus. Worst place in the world for allergies. Low paying jobs and HIGH cost of living. Horrible place to consider retiring to and getting worse every year. Drugs everywhere. Bad schools for children. But hey, everything's green and we have Starbucks here.

1/14/2007This used to be a great place to live, but my how it's grown. Growth wasn't properly managed so the roads and infrastructures are grossly inadequate. Just getting around town anymore is a joke and what the heck has happened to the cost of homes? We've been looking around and it appears to be cheaper to buy a home in California, what's wrong with that picture? The jobs here are mainly minimum wage and even professional occupations pay way below the national averages... why??? I guess that's the price you have to pay to live in Montana. It sounds great, but it's not that way anymore. The fishing has gone downhill to the point that I don't even fish anymore. The winters are long and brutal, often colder than Alaska during the winter months, and it can snow any time of year. We have a family video of the 4th of July and it's SNOWING, not a little either, the temperature that day was 32 degrees. So dress warm and always be prepared! If you're thinking of moving here and living outside of town for a country feeling, make sure you have a four wheel drive and a snow plow. Don't count on the state or city to keep your roads plowed, not knocking the city or state here, just seen too many people move here who expect someone else to do the work. Cowboy up or get out.

1/14/2007This place sucks, I've lived here off and on my whole life. The companies here don't pay what people are worth (I work for a company located in Michigan). Local companies won't hire unless you're a Mormon, yes, that's ILLEGAL, but companies here get away with it! INBREEDING... lots of it. People around here are mental drones and only know what their cult-like religion teaches them. If you have children, watch them closely for their safety. Utah ranks among the worst areas for child endangerment and sexual abuse. There are very few good places to eat out as the locals don't know what good food really is... I've watched some excellent eateries come and go and the owners have always told me the same thing: Utah is too hard of a place do business because of the taxes and corrupt governments. Cost of living is skyrocketing and it's hard to find a house with any kind of yard at all. Nothing is close or convenient and don't even get me started on the traffic and stupid ways people drive here, we've been rear-ended twice since we've been here because people are too busy talking on their cell phones to concentrate on driving. The air quality sucks because of the oil refineries here, cars rust out fast because of the salt brine they spray on the roads in the winter and crime is getting worse every day. In the winter everything's WHITE, in the summer everything's BROWN. Everybody I know that's not from here HATES it here and has moved out or is planning on moving out as soon as they can.
