Review of Denver, Colorado

Sweet "Cow-Town" no more
Star Rating - 3/7/2016
As a native I am very sad to see the changes that have taken place. I have lived in Boston and Seattle (awesome cities with much to offer), and always enjoyed returning home. Unfortunately, the growth is unchecked, and the infrastructure has not kept pace. I will always love hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, and all the outdoors has to offer... However, part of what was so appealing about Colorado was the serenity and beauty of the outdoors. Now, even in the mountains you have to fight traffic, parking, deal with folks who do not respect the beauty of the mountains and trails... I cannot help but mourn the loss of once an ideal place to grow up...

You mentioned Boston and Seattle. Have not lived in Seattle but Boston blows Denver away from my experience. Within Boston, or an hour away of Boston, there is ocean, beaches, the White Mountains, forests, historic towns, top hospitals and universities, less crime, less homeless, better food... Sure winter can be long and not as many sunny days, but just overall a better place and quality of life. Honestly a larger variety of things to do as well, inside and out. I am sure some midwestern types will take offense and want to overly defend Denver but it really is worlds behind some other US cities. Denver is not the worst city out there but some of the people who think it is so wonderful I don't know where else they have lived, or experienced to form that conclusion....
